My Top 10 Restaurants by the sea..

A romantic evening dining by the old port of Barcelona or eating with friends, a cocktail in your hands and your feet in the sand, here´s a list of the best restaurants by the sea...

1) Il Gallito: For tapas, salads, paella, meat or fish dishes in a rustic, beach style restaurant and bar metres from the Mediterranean. From here you can dine beneath the shade of the olive branches and watch the paddle-surfers in the evening sun.
Avg price: 32€

2) For delicious fresh fish and paella, head to Emperador by the old port. Set within the beautifully restored building of the Catalan History Museum and overlooking the boats in the port, it´s a great spot for a romantic dinner or with a group of friends.

3) For a more chilled dinner by the sea, you have to try Salt. Sit with with your feet in the sand and sip on a cocktail while waiting for your dinner to arrive. Enjoy gourmet burgers and local specialities like fresh ceviches as well as delicious desserts. Stunning location in the style of a Californian beach club. Avg price: 25€

4) Staying with the relaxed beach vibe, I just love the Surf House in Barceloneta. Again, metres from the beach and with a cute terrace and chic, distressed furniture it´s a great place to hang out for lunch or dinner. Think club sandwiches (which are amazing!), burgers, salads, brunch, cheesecake and cocktails...and all directly in front of the sea. (try out paddle-surfing with them too.)

5) Ca La Nuri...Fresh paella and wine on the beach overlooking the sea, anyone?
For tasty rice dishes, fresh fish and meat dishes with salads, tapas, great wine and desserts. Avg price: 25-30€ Group menu @35€

6) Part of the well-known Tragaluz Group, Agua is a favourite of the Catalans and Sunday afternoons in the sun are pretty busy, so make sure you book (and ask for the terrace). Fresh, quality fish restaurant in a priveliged spot on the beach. Avg price: 30-45€

7) For that special occasion, Torre Alta Mar is your place. Sure to impress, with it´s stunning views over the sea and Barcelona, as well as fresh & delicious modern Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is set at the top of the old port´s cable car tower so the views are spectacular. Unfortunately the prices are too, with the avg price at around 80-90€ per head. Definitely one for a special event.

8) Can Majó Great for tapas and paella with friends. Sit on a sunny, lively terrace in front of the beach and enjoy fresh prawns, lobster with rice or filet steak and salad. Closed Sunday night and Monday all day. Avg price 35€

9) For a chilled beachside bar vibe and Italian inspired dishes, book a table at Bestial. Its staggered terrace and shaded lounge areas are perfect for kicking back after a hard morning´s sunbathing and the set menu is well-priced at 17€, with the avg price of the main menu between 25-30€.

10) For my last recommendation I´m taking you away from Barcelona and down the coast to the beautiful town of Sitges to introduce to you the amazing Fragata Restaurant. A summer evening with friends or family sitting on their terrace in front of the sea & enjoying their incredible lobster with paella, is a great way to finish your day. Avg price: 40-45€ but so worth it! Read more about the coastal town of Sitges here.

I hope you enjoy my recommendations and if you know of any great seafront restaurants that just have to be part of this list, it´d be great to hear from you (and always happy to try them out!) x
